What he said…
Just read this at Untelevised and this guy seems to be RIGHT on the same page as I am about the state of the world right now..
– WHY aren’t people outraged that the haven’t found any credible evidence of these weapons that we used as a justification for our invasions
– WHY aren’t people outraged that these ‘bunkers’ they told us about during the bombings are turning out to be..uh… OFFICE BUILDINGS?
– WHY are people so content with a tax cut that only benefits the rich
– WHY are people allowing the administration to drive us back into the hole we just dug ourself out of…
I useed to be offended that the administration is treating us like idiots that can’t think for ourselves… But if all of the people that supported this war aren’t REALLY PISSED OFF that they’ve been duped then maybe the administration is right in assuming people are idiots… What other conclusion can you draw?
Sorry.. Just ranting… Guess I shouldn’t start my day reading politics – just gets me riled up…
That said – this Dean guy is sounding more interesting to me.. check this out
Dubbya Alternative
Anyone know anything about Howard Dean? Was just poking around at his site and noticed the ‘Dean for America’ icon on it.. I’ve heard good things about this guy before and DESPERATELY want a viable alternative to the current administration. I won’t go into why right now cuz that will start a diatribe that I don’t have time to finish but finding a candidate with his head on straight that has a hope of competing in SF AND the bible belt (not necessarily winning both – but putting up a good fight) is important..
Anyway.. Thought? impressions? pros? cons?
Lessons
Weekend was a success overall… Went to the beach and BBQ just like I said… LOVED Fort Funston… Took lots of (bad) pictures but had fun doing it.. There are SO MANY DOGS.. Hang-gliders taking off from the cliff… Hawks hanging out on the up drafts… Planes leaving from SFO on trips… I could have spent forever just looking at shells and rocks… Was SO WONDERFUL…
Then went to the BBQ at Scott’s… (or cookout as Kevin INSISTS it be called since there was no North Carolina BBQ to be found.. he REFUSES to acknowledge that, while perhaps not accurate, in California we call any party outside where there is food a BBQ)… Anyway … Party was fun too – though I HATE going to parties like that by myself when I don’t know many people… Always have. I’m REALLY bad at talking to people I don’t know so I wind up just lurking in other people’s conversations which seems kinda silly and sad.
AND – I made the mistake of smoking out with a couple of his buddys… BAD IDEA.. I don’t know why I don’t learn.. Pot is just NOT my drug… it just isn’t… I’m way to tightly wound to deal with that well… So I ended up just leaving the party and passing out at like 8pm (Probably didn’t help that I only got about 3 hours of sleep the night before)
So – couple of take home points for the weekend:
– Dogs, Sunshine, and the Beach – ALWAYS a good thing
– STOP Trying pot… Just cuz other people like it doesn’t mean you have to..
– Always take back up friends with you to parties where you don’t the others well. Either that or get better at party small talk…
– Clubs can be fun on occasion – just don’t go if your gut tells you not to! 🙂
– Little R&R from time to time is REQUIRED.
– Kevin has better taste in house paint color than I give him credit for – but don’t repeat that to him – don’t want it going to his head… (Did I mention we painted the living room saturday)
Ciao…
Redeemed…
Ok.. So maybe $30 is what it takes to have a good time… Maybe its 2 PHENOMINAL DJs… Maybe its really good company… maybe its a place with kooshey booths to hang out in… Maybe its all of the above.. maybe its the right combination.. I don’t know – but Matt and I went out dancin last night and I, for one, had a great time… Music was great.. had a great time chatting with him while we were waiting for it to fill up…. when it did fill up the crowd was cute AND friendly… and all this with nothing but red bull and vodka to keep me goin… Even ran into this really sweet guy I run into on rare occasions out dancing – although I have YET to find him to swap info at the end of the night… Mike – if you’re out there …. drop me a line – I tried to find you and a pen before we left and couldn’t find either…
Guesss I won’t give up on going out dancin after all – just be more selective about when and where I go.. Think it has more to do with my mood than anything…
Woke up bright and early to a sunny memorial day… Meeting M & B for brunch… Cookout at Scott’s later… Birds are chirping… I’m not working today… Feelin kinda jolly and happy! ;)..
Oh… this is where we went…
Happy monday! :):)
What to do
Ok… So my first holiday weekend in AGES where i didn’t have to at least work for part of it.. (ok.. so technically i’m on call since we still haven’t shipped this damn thing – but regardless I don’t have to go to cupertino)…
and I’m at a loss as to how to fill my time!… I’m SURE I’ll wind up filling it up and be depressed on monday as usual because its over… But I feel like I should have alredy planned something and I haven’t…
Memorial Day weekends in the past I’ve always done the club / dance thing all weekend… Gus always have a weekend chock full of ‘events’ in SF every year this weekend… Gay day at great america… Metropolis… Pleasuredome… And I’m sure tahts all still going on (ok.. I know its all still going on)..
But for some reason this year I just don’t care… its yet another circuit / club weekend like every other one… Way too much money to get into each place for a night of dancing ($50 is just too much for entrance – let alone the $75-$100 that other parties cost) and its the same crowd as every other year…
I need variety… I need sunshine… I need outside…
I’ve got a friend of mine coming in from NYC tomorrow afternoon so thats my tomorrow night… Know of a couple of BBQs on Monday that sound interesting…
Maybe camping or something… Or a hike up to mount tam… Hmmmm….
M & B are coming over tonight for dinner! 🙂
I’m open to suggestions! 😉 😉
