Deck Contractors?
Any of you San Francisco kids out there have a recommendation for a good Deck Builders / Contractors? I spent part of yesterday trying to track down a quote for some repair work on our deck and didn’t get a SINGLE returned call.. What is up with businesses - don’t they get the distinction between returning phone calls and $$ in the bank… had the same problem with my optometrist… took them 3 or 4 days just to return my phone call for an appointment (granted I could have called them again but I was kind of being a bitch and testing them)
So if anyone near by has built a deck and has a favorite (and preferably cheap) person / company let me know.

He’s not the deck guy, but our hardwood floor guy is Jimmy of Jimmy’s hardwood floors. He doesn’t speak the best english, so just be prepared for that when you call. His number is 415-587-8785.
I swear - contractors in the Bay Area are the WORST! The problem is that they usually have so much work that they can pick and choose what they want. $$ isn’t really an issue. My best buds just had a new deck built and I know they were very happy with the company and the work. I’ll see if I can get the number for you.
On a completely unrelated note - I wanted to update the RSS feed for your new domain, but can’t find it anywhere here. Are you still syndicating?
Doh - nevermind - I found it under credits!
Wow… if you could track down the name that your buddies used for their deck I’d be forever in your debt… I’m sure i could find some way to repay ya! ![]()
Contractor info has been sent. As for repaying the favor - maybe a drink next time we’re up in SF? Cheers !
You two are the BOMB…. And you can count on that drink… just let me know when and cocktails are on me…
matt too.. though a virgin daquri for him.. (unless you’re still forbidden from having virgins!

I’m looking for a stairs/deck contractor myself. In general, contractors are very similar to automobile sales people, car mechanics, etc. They can quote you whatever price they can and if you don’t get a few estimates, you can be fleeced. I had a sewer job done and the bids were $7500, $8,500, and $12,000. Yes, contractors in SF are always busy and it’s not about the $$$. They have enough jobs to keep them busy.
Great site guys… Keep up the good work ![]()
