Since i forgot to mention this before I left (cuz I was FRANTIC getting ready to go) I’ll fill ya all in now – Kevin and I just got back from spending a week on a live aboard dive boat in the Carribean. All of the details are up on my .mac photo pages but the basic gist of it was that we flew down to the Turks and Caicos islands (just north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and spent a week scuba diving and hanging out in the sun. It was SUCH a great experience that i’ve been giddy to head back as soon as I can. The whole thing was aboard one of the Aggressor boats and the whole thing was really well done… Up to 5 dives a day, great food, really cool people to hang out with, and a crew that made t he whole thing great…

But since I have to head off to work now… But you can see the details on my photo page, Rick and Randy’s page, or read the captain’s log from the trip…

Easter Dinner

In celebration of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (wow – I almost got through that without giggling) we went up to my Parents’ house in Sacramento with Matt, Brian, Audrey and Jamie. We went up Saturday morning and spent the day, night and Sunday morning up there hanging out.. It was really nice to get away and, unlike last year, the traffic up and back actually wasn’t too bad.

We got up there round lunch time on Saturday and spent the day cooking and decorating Easter eggs. Jamie came up a little later with his dog Reggie who turned out to be a great playmate for my ‘rents dog Bodie is a yellow lab puppy and went NUTS over reggie – we really couldn’t get him to calm down with reggie around – it was too funny…

Easter dinner was actually saturday night (leave it to us to re-schedule easter at a convenient time for us) and then we had strawberry cobbler and watched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe…

This morning we got up and had breakfast and then went out to Folsom lake to run the dogs again..

Anyway – fun weekend.. now just catching up before the weekend’s over and bootcamp tomorrow AM…

More pictures are on Matt and Brian’s site..

My little sister sent me this and it had me laughing out loud in a meeting so I had to share…. These hit just a little too close to home for my tastes…

NEW WORDS FOR 2006:

Essential vocabulary additions for the workplace (and elsewhere)

  1. BLAMESTORMING : Sitting around in a group, discussing why a deadline was missed or a project failed, and who was responsible.
  2. SEAGULL MANAGER: A manager, who flies in, makes a lot of noise, craps on everything, and then leaves.

This last weekend Kevin and I decided to head down to LA to explore. I had an all day meeting in Santa Monica on friday so we decided to take advantage of that and spend the weekend… Weekend started off a little rocky because of weather – Kevin’s flight got delayed from 9:20pm friday night until 2am at which point he bailed and decided to come back the next morning. But from that point on it was great..

Once he got in we dropped his luggage off at the hotel and went to see an exhibit called ‘Ashes and Snow‘ at the Santa Monica Pier…. REALLY COOL temporary exhibit that is a mixed video and still media presentation… I HIGHLY recommend it if you can make it down that way… We then spent the rest of the afternoon doing random tourist stuff which was fun too… We went to the new Disney concert hall in downtown LA – it was cool but really kinda typical for Gehry’s architecture and pretty similar to the Experience Music Project in Seattle… We also checked out MOCA while we were in the area – comic book art was just OK but the rest was VERY cool..

Saturday night we hung out with Stephen – just had dinner in Marina Del Rey near his house and then went to see Brokback Mountain (we all just kinda wanted to see it again and it was raining so sounded better than the other options)..

Sunday we had lunch with Kevin’s friend Steven at Basix in West Hollywood which was really nice (both hanging out with Steven and the place)… After that we went on a driving tour of Bel Air and Hollywood… Sunday night we had a dinner to ourselves for a late Valentines day dinner… Was really nice…

Overall a great trip despite a few hiccups… 🙂
