Weekend Roundup

Monday, November 10th, 2008 | Pete Stuff, Random Morsels | Comments Off on Weekend Roundup

Ok… more of a normal post this time… less of a rant… This weekend was a kinda surreal good bad weird sad kind of one… Whole weekend started friday around noon when Kevin picked me up to go to Lori’s funeral. While the funeral was profoundly sad and touching event it was truly AMAZING to see the sheer number of people who came out to say goodbye. Seems everyone thinks as much of her as we do and came out to help Ric, Bill, and the rest of the family cope. And to top it off it was an amazingly sunny day – you could feel her in the wind and sun! 🙂

Then that night we made it back to the city to walk the dog and just in time for the HUGE protest / march / rally against the passage of Prop 8. Seems there are one or two of us that are a little upset about that (more like 15,000 of us – at least thats about the number that came out en masse to take over the city). It was actually really great seeing everyone come out and make a stink. The march went from civic center, through the castro, and then over to dolores park. It turned out the march lasted all night with people camped out in the Castro until the morning (we pooped out WELLLLL before that).

The rest of the weekend was more mellow. Saturday was rainy and I just got a haircut and a Massage and then we went to dinner at the beach chalet. Yesterday was a little busier.. Dog walk at Chrissy field, brunch with Alex, Scott, and Adam, and then a photo walk with Randy and Rick. But still nice and mellow after the way things started off..

Anyway.. Told you it was boring. But after the roller coaster of last week I’m REALLY READY for a boring week.

later tater!

Sent from Kevin in north carolina… something about 'chopped fresh daily' that probably wouldn't go over quite so well here! 🙂

Grossly Normal

Few notes for a thursday morning….

First, Kevin had his latest oncologist appointment on Monday at which his doctor informed him that he is now “Grossly Normal”. As it turns out that means there is no sign of cancer.. YAY… The PET scan showed no signs of cancer anywhere in his body (let alone at the site of the original Lymphoma)… So a good start to the week..

On other news… well… not much of it really… We’re still trying to get settled into the new digs, sell the old digs, and keep my head above water at work… Only some of which is going at any given point in time…

Will have some other news next week but for the time being i’m just going to tease a little and say something is going on…

(Oh… and I pulled all the silly twitter blog entries from my blog – I decided that that was silly – not to mention when I started playing with loopt I realized I was publishing my comings and goings to anyone who wanted to see – which seemed like poor judgement… :))

Anyway… more later…

The Road Not Taken

One of my favorite poems of all times.. I know its kind of common place and perhaps a little trite – but I don’t care… I like it

The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A few on a friday morning

Just a couple of quick things… First, Annik over at SlowGerman had a great podcast this week talking about German music and had some really great stuff… in particular, i just bought an album from Joy Delanane called Was auch Immer that I f-in LOVE… its a really cool combination of soul / R&B, south african, and some other stuff and she sings in about 4 different languages that I can count (German, English, French, and Swahili)… Its my new favorite right now! :):)

And my buddy Scott forwarded me this funny article.. I laughed out loud:

Federal Judge: Enough With the Stupid Names

After Judge Cabrera’s historic ruling, little Clitoria Jackson will likely undergo a name change.
