Just read this at Untelevised and this guy seems to be RIGHT on the same page as I am about the state of the world right now..

– WHY aren’t people outraged that the haven’t found any credible evidence of these weapons that we used as a justification for our invasions

– WHY aren’t people outraged that these ‘bunkers’ they told us about during the bombings are turning out to be..uh… OFFICE BUILDINGS?

– WHY are people so content with a tax cut that only benefits the rich

– WHY are people allowing the administration to drive us back into the hole we just dug ourself out of…

I useed to be offended that the administration is treating us like idiots that can’t think for ourselves… But if all of the people that supported this war aren’t REALLY PISSED OFF that they’ve been duped then maybe the administration is right in assuming people are idiots… What other conclusion can you draw?

Sorry.. Just ranting… Guess I shouldn’t start my day reading politics – just gets me riled up…

Dubbya Alternative

Anyone know anything about Howard Dean? Was just poking around at his site and noticed the ‘Dean for America’ icon on it.. I’ve heard good things about this guy before and DESPERATELY want a viable alternative to the current administration. I won’t go into why right now cuz that will start a diatribe that I don’t have time to finish but finding a candidate with his head on straight that has a hope of competing in SF AND the bible belt (not necessarily winning both – but putting up a good fight) is important..

Anyway.. Thought? impressions? pros? cons?

Think for your self

Saw a guy driving to work today that had an American flag on his bumper, right next to a FDNY sticker, right next to a sticker saying ‘Support our Troops, Support President Bush’… The combination of the three really irked me… I’m an American and a VERY proud one… I have an amazing amount of respect for the NYC Firefighters (all Police and Firefighters for that mater) – those folks are willing to put their lives on the line to save others – that takes balls of steel and a heart of gold… I also support our troops for many of the same reasons I support the police and fire – they’re doing a job most of us could never do to protect our personal freedoms..

What I do not do is blindly support our President and I don’t think anyone should. Not this President… Not any President… It is our civic duty to question every move he makes and let it be known when we disagree. And to blindly support any president purely because of his office or, worse yet, use the memory of fallen heros as justification for blind allegiance I find infuriating..

I won’t go into it any more than that… just had to vent

George and Me

So it seems I’m a Republican now… Don’t know when that happened… Wish someone would have told me so I could have started behaving like one! 🙂

Got home last night and for the second time this month I’ve gotten mail from the Republican party to its members.. This one was the coolest though – it was a ‘Personal’ message from our fearless leader – George W. Bush – to party members to attend a formal dinner in the area… For the bargain price of $2,500 a plate – or, if I want to bring my friends – $25,000 for a table (of 10 – this is a fundraiser after all – no bulk discount)…

Wonder who decided I had become a republican and what I did to earn the honor! ;)… I can’t wait to have dinner with dubbya… 🙂
