Speechless

I’m sorry but I don’t even know what to say about this:

Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart Threatens To Kill Gays

(Toronto, Ontario) A Canadian television station has apologized publicly to viewers for a telecast of American evangelist Jimmy Swggart’s television program in which he threatened to kill gays.

the important point being this:

According to a transcript of the program, Swaggart said: “I’m trying to find the correct name for it … this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men. … I’ve never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I’m gonna be blunt and plain; if one ever looks at me like that, I’m gonna kill him and tell God he died.”

The remarks were met with applause from his congregation.

What the FUCK… Did the entire building miss the day in Sunday schoool where they talked about the ten commandments and the golden rule?

UPDATE: If you want to actually check it out for yourself check out this link (thanks to The Daily Kos). scrub to 36 minutes 30 seconds to see the quote. I can’t even describe what a kick in the gut it felt like to hear the crowd cheer to a comment like that..

Another Adventure

To add to the list of things to do in the Bay Area for those looking for pointers – Mount Diablo. Kevin and I went camping up there this past weekend and had a great time. It is an EASY 30 minute drive from San Francisco and its gorgeous. Very warm California terrain and the camp sight we camped at was just below the summit with CRAZY gorgeous views of the bay area. Well worth checking out – either for camping or just for a day hike.

Few words of warning though. First – NO ALCOHOL.. We learned this the hard way – ranger found us hangin out by the campfire drinkin and made us pour EVERYTHING out.. Felt like I was in the dorms again.. it SUCKED.. (Especially pouring the bottle full bottle of Gin and Jack out. ugg..)

Second.. There are Rattlesnakes up there. They generally keep to themselves and steer clear of people – but Kevin managed to stumble into one on a hike. Bent down to tie his shoe looked up to see a rattler coiled and rattling 6 feet in front of him. And pop quiz – when you see such a thing do you a) stop and slowly back away quietly without making sudden moves or do you b) scream like a girl, turn and run, throwing sticks as you do, and fall and skin your knee. I’ll let you all guess which one is the correct answer and which one kevin chose! 😉

Anyway.. Worth checking out… If ya wanna see the pictures here they are:

Where I grew up

Was just browsing around online today and found the home page for the city I grew up in (Irvine, CA) and, more disturbingly, found the demographics page they have posted.. The two that caught my eye in particular were these two:

Ethnicity:

White 57%
Asian & Pacific Islander 29.8%
Hispanic 7.4%
Black 1.4%
Other 4.4%
Registered Voters:
Registered71,490
    Republican48.4%
    Democrat29.2%
    Other22.4%

Just confirms what I already feared but couldn’t confirm – I grew up in Stepford. ACK.

Crazy weekend

Another crazy but fun weekend… Friday night was anniversary night. Kevin and I went down to the Ferry Building and had oysters and beers before dinner and then went to Chaya for dinner which was really good. Was a very romantic evening walking along the water and spending time with my man.. I really enjoyed it.

Saturday was kind of work / chore day followed by dinner and, later that night I went out with Matt for drinks to honor Dore Alley Weekend. We both strapped on our gear (chaps in my case – leather in his case) and headed Out… Hit the Loading Dock followed by brief appearances at the PowerHouse and Mezzanine.

Today I spent most of the day with my friend John from college which was a lot of fun.. He and his wife came over for brunch with Kevin and I and then John came with Kevin, Matt, and I to Dore Alley Fair… He was quite the sport and I’m sure the fair was quite an experience for him… Its kind of funny how much the things at fairs like that don’t phase me these days.. Its only when I have stright friends with me that might be wierded out that I pay attention. But John was quite a sport and it was really nice hanging out with him…

Now I gotta get ready for another week of work.. Uggg..

Was just watching one of the episodes of ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart‘ and he had one of his (many) priceless moments… Check out this clip. Something about a box turtle… I don’t know… but it was DAMN funny! 🙂

Happy Saturday! 🙂
