Another packed weekend

Damn.. So its lookin like this coming weekend is going to be yet another action packed weekend. I shouldn’t really be complaining since its all fun stuff – but still. Just not sure when i’m going to make time to sit on my ass and be a vegetable..

Friday is Kevin and my Anniversary (5 years – woo hoo) so Friday night we’re probably going to be doing something coupley. After that I’ve got friends from colorado coming out and we’re probably going to either hang out with them or go over to the east bay to hang with some other friends… Saturday night plan is probably dinner with yet a different group of friends.. And then Sunday is Dore Alley Fair which is always fun and different. So that along with hanging out with John (from Colorado) and his lady will make for another full day..

Uggg… Looking forward to all of it but sounding a little exhausting to me… Maybe I should take Monday to recover… who knows…

Now back to work! 🙂

HRC

Kevin and I went to the HRC dinner tonight in San Francisco and had a fantastic time.. At least I did… Apple sponsored the HRC for the event so there was a table of 10 of us that were there representing the mother-ship and it was a lot of fun.. It was held at Moscone West which was a bit sterile for an event like that (I’ve been in the past at other venues that have been more inviting)… But regardless, as usual, I walked out feeling like I should be doing more to get involved and help out. They do a good job of working toward equal rights toward the GLTB community and did a good job of communicating to the audience the importance of the struggle and how it relates to so many other things.

In particular they did a great job of pointing out how the fight for Marriage equality relates closely to the fight for equality in so many other ways and how, while ‘civil unions’ may seem like a good first step in a lot of ways we shouldn’t be settling because such unions don’t afford any of the same rights by definition as legal civil marriage does.

At any rate… A good time was had by all and I feel like i need to be out there helping… But right now i’m going to crash out and hope i don’t wake up with a hangover in the morning! 🙂

A special place in…

Just read this quote from Sen. Rick Santorum (thanks to bloggy)

“I would argue that the future of our country hangs in the balance because the future of marriage hangs in the balance,” he said shortly before the vote. “Isn’t that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage?”

Does he REALLY believe that my desire for basic equal rights is the most important security issue facing them? He and Karl Rove really need to keep their eye on the ball… (I have a few other choice words for those two but I’ll refrain for now since i’m in a good mood).. Gotta agree with barry that there really are more important things to be worrying about.

Take THAT

KICK ASS:

Senate Blocks Bush Move to Ban Same-Sex Marriage

Its nice to know that there is SOME sanity in the world. We talked about this at length in my carpool yesterday with one of my straight carpool buddies. Its weird to talk to the people I know (gay and straight) and see how few people support the amendment (or even understand why others care) and yet see so many people in the news that seem to be so gung ho to write discrimination into the constitution…

Anyway.. Another point for the good guys! 🙂

SO SWEET Part 2

Last night Kevin pulled together a little low key birthday party for me which is my favorite kind. He invited Matt and Brian, Patrick and Chuck, Bill and Matt, and Britton over for dinner and cocktails..

Was kinda cute actually. After Nathan’s party we came home and Kevin told me we were going over to Matt and Bill’s for dinner and he needed to go to the store to get salad fixings. While he was gone I noticed the grill had been scrubbed and was open and an empty charcoal bag was next to it. Hmmm… When he got home he had Salad Fixings, a bunch of pelligrino, beer, sodas, and a large package from the bucher… Hmm… Then he pulled out some fennel to let me smell and then asked if I’d ever had grilled fennel at which point he fired up the BBQ… Odd… He finally broke down and told me people were coming over (probably cuz he had to start preparing the roast)..

Anyway… was super cute.. After that folks came over to hang out, help cook, eat, and chat.. Was really nice…
