‘Nother blog-de-vouz

Just got back from dinner with this guy. Poor guy spent the weekend trying to track me down but work kept foiling his attempts – and i’m SERIOUSLY bummed about it. Ian and Jay were in town for the weekend but I was stuck working for the better part of it so tonight was the first time I had to meet up with them. Had a great time hanging out with them (though they got to endure me being all wound up after work and CHATTY)… Really wish I had been around to hang out with them more… Guess its just another excuse to head north – already owe this guy a visit too… 🙂

On another note, this weekend I did get the honor of going to a ceremony at the Unitarian church in San Francisco for Matt and Brian and a number of other couples. Was really neat to be a part of Matt and Brian’s commitment and to see all of the other happy couples talk about their commitment. And on top of it all, it turns out that the first marriage license the pastor had signed in QUITE some time was for one of those couples – it turns out she had decided to stop signing licenses for straight couples until gay couples had the same rights. Chokes me up just thinking about it..

Next weekend he’s in town – kevin is really exicted to have Rodney and Greg in town.. Watch out…

Get There faster!

Driving in to work today I was doing my usual surfing of conservative radio stations to see what kind of BS was being shoveled. Funny thing was though that when I hit one of them the hosts were talking about the the same issue in Tennessee that my previous post was about and the announcer was talking about how absurd it was. I think the direct quote I heard was ‘Its like outlawing people with brown hair’. WOW… You would have NEVER heard someone on one of these stations saying something like that even a handful of years ago. Kind of impressive to see people reaching these kind of conclusions..

Kind of reminds me of a Friends episode where Joey and Chandler were looking at Richard’s (Monica’s ex) video tape collection when they found a tape presumed to be a sex tape with “Monica” written on it… Slowly Joey put each piece together and figured out the deal – Chandler, getting impatient with how long it took Joey to reach the logical conclusion, yelled ‘Get there FASTER’…

This whole set of gay issues sort of feels like the same kind of thing. The country is slowly working out the logic in their head and realizing it all makes sense and isn’t a bad thing at all.. But MAN. I find my self wanting to scream the same thing…

Get there FASTER

Can’t help but giggle

I know I shouldn’t laugh cuz it really isn’t funny – but I really can’t help but laugh at this:

Tennessee county, site of `Monkey Trial,’ wants to charge gays with crimes against nature

This is the place who’s last claim to fame was the Scopes “Monkey Trial” (those of you who read Inherit the Wind will recognize the case). Then it was about outlawing the teaching evolution in schools – now its about forcing out the gays based on backwards and unfounded ideas about ‘nature’. Not funny really but its just so absurd!

Guess we won’t be moving to Tennessee any time soon … Damn! :).. Though i do like Trey’s idea of a gay invasion.

Congratulations to all my friends who got hitched this weekend… I’m so excited that everyone was given this opportunity. I’m so proud to live in a city that not only allows for this kind of thing but does it with excitement and enthusiasm. I’m so grateful to have a Mayor that, and the beginning of what I hope to be a great political career, has the balls to stand up for what he believes to be right and stand behind it… And I don’t give a damn what other people think about it – its not about them or the santity of their marriage – its about security, civil rights, and the love of individual couples. I couldn’t have put it more eloquently myself:

“The issue here is simple: the state’s Constitution does not permit discrimination at all, anywhere. We are in full compliance with our state’s equal protection clause prohibiting discrimination in any form. While some may believe that separate and unequal institutions are acceptable, we will oppose intolerance and discrimination every step of the way. San Francisco is a city of tolerance and mutual respect and we will accept nothing less than full civil rights for all our residents,” said Newsom.

Congratulations to ALL of you! 🙂

And everyone else!
