Random Morsels
First snow.. Now Meat…
So, in case I haven’t mentioned it before, I have the commute of doom. I live in San Francisco and have a 45 mile drive every morning to haul my ass to Cupertino for work. I love the job and I love living in San Francisco so I don’t mind the commute – and i’m sure my Audi dealer loves it too for the same reason my Dentist loves this box of Jujyfruits sitting on my desk! ๐
Anyway – along that commute I’ve seen all SORTS of weird things along the way. I’ve seen drivers doing the usual daily shaving, makeup, and hair. I’ve seen people reading everything from work paperwork to novels to newspapers. I’ve been nearly run off the road by people engaged in cell phone conversations – I can spot ’em 4 cars away at this point since they tend to drive by brail (those of you not in California should should read about Bott’s dots to know what I mean). I’ve even seen someone playing a Guitar while driving..
But this month has taken the cake… On my way home two Fridays ago it SNOWED on me on the way home. I’m not talking a few flakes. I’m talking the freeway was WHITE and scared drivers were on the side of the road looking confused.. it was DAMN FUNNY…
And then yesterday – there was Meat… No seriously.. MEAT ON THE FREEWAY. Driving north on 101 last night I tuned into the radio to figure out why I had been sitting still so long I had time to put the car in park and read a magazine. The traffic report informed me that a butcher truck had lost its load and there was meat on the freeway and they had closed down all 4 lanes to clear it off. When I got up to the scene later I saw what they were talking about – there was probably 3 some cows worth of butchered meat and what looked like cow or pig carcasses. REALLY FOWL. And can you imagine what it must have been like driving directly behind that truck – must have been like some strange mix of terror and incredibly funny. Stakes on your windshield..
Anyway.. Was funny – had to share! ๐
Happy friday…
Oh… And by the way
If anyone knows who stole the tip jar from Jumpin Java – kick their ass for me… Who steals a tip jar? Thats just bad karma if I”ve ever heard it – especially from my favorite-little-accross-the-street-coffee-shop…
People suck some times..
Don Knotts: 1924-2006
US comedy star Knotts dies at 81
US actor Don Knotts, who won five Emmys for playing a bumbling deputy sheriff in comedy The Andy Griffith Show, has died in a Los Angeles hospital aged 81.
Between Barney Fife and Mr. Furley I’ve got many childhood memories from this guy!
Don’t be a Dumb ass
I’m sorry.. I know I’m biased.. But this just pisses me off… For christ sake – just turn the damn things down.. Its not like they don’t have a volume dial on them. When I notice its too loud thats what I do. These people shouldn’t be pissed at Apple – they should be pissed at their Mothers for not telling them to turn their music down when they were in high school. I distinctly remember mine doing that more than once (I also remember blowing out the speakers on our Ford Probe – but thats another story)…
I’m sorry – but people shouldn’t be able to sue because they can’t use common sense.
Happy friday! ๐
Golden Globes
In case you missed it the Golden Globes last night were fantastic and I’m SO HAPPY with the results…
- Best Motion Picture – Drama: Brokeback Mountain
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama: Felicity Huffman รขโฌโ Transamerica
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama: Philip Seymour Hoffman รขโฌโ Capote
- Best Director – Motion Picture: Ang Lee รขโฌโ Brokeback Mountain
- Best Screenplay – Motion Picture: Brokeback Mountain – Written by Larry McMurtry, Diana Ossana
- Best Original Song – Motion Picture: “A Love That Will Never Grow Old” รขโฌโ Brokeback Mountain
- Best Television Series – Drama: Lost
- Best Television Series – Musical Or Comedy: Desperate Housewives
There were lots of other winners that were fantastic but these were my favorites… For a full list of results check out this page (or check out the Hollywood Foreign Press Association web site – other good stuff there).. I have to say I was disappointed Heath Ledger didn’t get best actor for Brokeback Mountain cuz we was REALLY DAMN GOOD in that movie – but I can’t honestly say he was robbed given Philip Seymour Hoffman did an amazing job in Capote too (if ya haven’t seen that one go see it – really good movie though not exactly a happy cheery one).. But if Felicity Huffman didn’t get it she would have been robbed – she did a fantastic job (and her acceptance speech was really damn sweet to boot)..
Anyway.. ‘Twas a good night in hollywood..
Another Dreary Weekend
Uggg… Its raining AGAIN… I actually kinda like the rain but even I’m getting a little tired of it… We’ve got this awful down spout outside of our bedroom window that is broken and the only time we remember about it is when the roof is slippery and its overflowing and pouring right on our window sill… Makes me absolutely daffy…
Anyway.. Not quite sure what`s going to be going on this weekend. Have a bunch of bugs I need to fix (now that I’m a manager I don’t get much time during the week to do that but I actually kinda enjoy it so weekends are the time).. Went to dinner with Matt last night at Macarthur Park which was fun.. Today I gotta get my hairs cut and get some work done.. Haven’t decided what to do with my evening yet – Kevin and Brian are going to the Kabuki for massages so I guess I’m on my own – might see bout conning someone to go with me to one of the movies at the Berlin and Beyond film festival…
Hows that for a boring weekend… have to see how it all turns out. ๐
