CRAZY

Sunday, April 3rd, 2005 | Pete Stuff | 4 Comments

Believe it or not I haven’t actually forgotten about my blog (all evidence to the contrary) but life has been crazy busy lately and when its busy with work and relationship stuff I can’t really talk about it on here – thus the silence…. sorry bout that..

Pretty much the only news I’ve had aside from stuff I can’t talk about was Easter. Kevin and I went up to Sacramento to my parent’s place and brought Matt, Brian, Audrey, and Kevin’s friend Amanda to spend the weekend.. It was really nice to get away. My mom’s new place has a pool, hot tub, trampoline (seriously), and a theater with a HD projector. Matt and Brian posted pictures here.

Rick’s Day

Sunday, January 23rd, 2005 | Pete Stuff | 3 Comments

This weekend has been kind of odd / rough / busy / fun / crazy… Friday night Kevin and I had dinner with Matt and Brian and two of Kevin’s friends from Atlanta at a nice French (La Suite) restaurant in South Beach. Nice if you like french food that is – if you don’t like french food don’t go (Matt had Bone Marrow as an appetizer for example).. Dinner was nice though pricey and I was in a bit of a mood cuz of a frantic week… After dinner we all went to the Powerhouse only to find that Michael Brandon was doing some sort of auction at the bar and Kevin walked away with a Gift basket and DVD (imagine what kind of both) ;)… After about a half hour or so I was done but Kevin and the rest stayed to go on to the Endup. Late night for most but not so much for me..

Saturday was largely work with a break to go climbing again which was nice (though DAMN I’m sore today – this time we went climbing and also lifted weights)…

Saturday night we went out for dinner with Randy and Rick at Ozumo which was Really nice.. I’d never been to the restaurant.. The sushi was fantastic, location was right on the bay, and atmosphere was great. Oh.. and the company wasn’t too shabby either – we don’t see those guys very often unfortunately (aside from passing Randy at work which doesn’t really count as quality time).

And.. at dinner Rock informed me that I don’t update my blog enough and recommended that I dedicate days to folks.. So in honor of him today will be Rick’s on SwimFinsSF! 😉

And today.. Well today I’m in Cupertino working… Wee fun… 😉

Happy Sunday

A new pastime

Sunday, January 16th, 2005 | Pete Stuff | 1 Comment

I’ve discovered a new pastime that i’m loving. Matt and I went to Mission Cliffs yesterday to go climbing and, while I sucked REALLY BADLY, I had a great time (and i’m sore today). We went down at 10:30 yesterday morning and took a saftey class that taught us how to use all of the equipment ( it seems there is more than one use for a harnass 😉 ) and then we spent about 2 hours climbing walls. The whole thing was a WHOLE lot of fun though it requires two skills which I am VERY bad at – namely comfort with heights and trust. I’m TERRIFIED of heights and i’m bad at relying on others for things. So, as much as I trust Matt for pretty much anything, dangling from a rope a story or two in the air from a rope is kinda.. well.. um.. petrifying for me.. But I still loved it.. And DAMN is it a good upper body workout.. I’m sore today! :)..

So I’ll be going back.. hopefully a lot! 🙂

Christmas things to do in SF

Monday, December 13th, 2004 | San Francisco | 6 Comments

In my ongoing list of little things to do in San Francisco I’d recommend hitting the Hyatt on Market Street for dinner at Equinox. The food is actually reasonably marginal (expensive hotel food including things like prime rib) however it is actually really nice to have dinner in their rotating restaurant and have a view that switches between the bay and the buildings and lights of downtown. Kevin and I had dinner there the other night after his art opening and it was a REALLY nice time.. Sun had set and we watched the fog roll in as we looked out on the bay, ice skating at Justin Herman Plaza, and watched the lights of the buildings downtown.. Really nice…

However my FAVORITE part of the evening was standing in the atrium of the lobby and looking that the long strands of lights hanging probably 10 floors from the ceiling… SO DAMN COOl.. And you HAVE TO TRY THIS: Stand right under the lights so they’re all around you and then spin around. The people all around thought I was INSANE but it was SO COOL. 🙂

Have fun!: )

Gay Repbublicans

Sunday, November 7th, 2004 | Gay Stuff, Politics | 5 Comments

While I was working this morning I watched a show on ‘Trio‘ called ‘Gay Republicans‘ .. Oh my GOD… This is one of those shows that had me yelling at the TV. I can completely understand standing behind some of the stated Republican values of smaller government (though they’re missing the mark), conservative fiscal values (though they’re missing the mark), fiscal responsibility (though they’re REALLY missing the mark), and national security (oh my GOD are they missing the mark).. Mind you I’m not saying these are unique to the Republican Party – this is just their schtick. So, while I might not agree with their policy on these positions, I can at least understand the goal and how gay men and lesbians would support it.

However, what AMAZES me is how some openly gay and lesbian people can be a part of a party that goes beyond not accepting them to actively attacking them and using gay issues as a blatant political tool to to win a campaign at the expense of basic civil rights..It just escapes me…I just heard a gay man actually say ‘The amendment states that marriage is between a man and a woman – it doesn’t say anything about excluding me’… What the FUCK?.. That is actually PRECISELY what it says. It states that the rights and privileges that government provides to heterosexual couples isn’t available to him (and me).. Mind you I’m not talking about religious marriage (if a church doesn’t want to marry me i’ll go to a different church) – I’m talking about civil marriage and the rights the government ties to that construct. Oh my GOD… There are actually people that agree with, not only writing discrimination into the constitution, but writing in discrimination against them selves… I just want to scream.. Do people REALLY hate themselves that much?? WOW…

Makes ya wonder if there were women who didn’t think they should be allowed to vote… Or African Americans who thought that slavery was justified…

Uggg.. Anyway… Just venting

(BTW – the show also did a good job of showing the other half of the log cabins that were forced to split with their party over this very issue… I was impressed by their take on the whole thing)

An Apology from Jimmy

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004 | Gay Stuff | 5 Comments

So now it looks like our pal Jimmy has decided to apologize:

(09-22) 12:45 PDT BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) —

Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart apologized Wednesday for saying in a televised worship service that he would kill any gay man who looked at him romantically.

I think my favorite part is this though:

On Wednesday, Swaggart said he has jokingly used the expression “killing someone and telling God he died” thousands of times, about all sorts of people. He said the expression is figurative and not meant to harm.

“It’s a humorous statement that doesn’t mean anything. You can’t lie to God — it’s ridiculous,” Swaggart told The Associated Press. “If it’s an insult, I certainly didn’t think it was, but if they are offended, then I certainly offer an apology.”

Somehow thats supposed to make it better. And this from a supposed ‘Man of God’… Hmmm… You decide.
